Andrey is a creative director for an advertising agency in Moscow, Russia. No wonder he has amazing imagination and incredible works of art about cats. He lives in Rostov-on-Don, where the creativity was born. Besides, he’s also a writer under the pen name Petechka Odnobokov (Little Peter One-Side). His Instagram account has drawn almost 35k cat enthusiastic lovers waiting for his next intelligent art.
Andrey confessed that he is a genuine animal lover: “I have two cats, male and female. The male cat is named Pif. I took him from an animal shelter as an adult, when he was already around 5 years old. The female cat is named Panya, and I found her in the street. Now she’s 6 years old. She’s autistic. I also have a Labrador named Rooney who is 3 years old. He can be seen in some of my photos. All of my pets get along very well and don’t fight.”
“I was looking through a photo album and one picture I had taken in a forest on a corporate retreat caught my eye, and that’s how the idea was born. I liked it, so I took another photo with the intention of placing a cat in it. I decided to create an Instagram account full of pictures of only me and cats because that’s not very different from the reality I live in. I lead a rather isolated way of life.” – This was his inspiration, sometimes it naturally comes by chance.
So based on his animal preference, it’s pretty understandable why he inserted a giant cat into the original picture. When we look at those photos we can easily spot out the concept which is simple but impressive: cats involve to our life everywhere! From lying down with him in a living room, following him to the convenience store, to just simply having dinner with him. Looks like it’s a whole adventure of a cat when living with Andrey.
But there’s still some struggles he have to deal with. The initial idea was he wanted to take pictures of his cats: “I tried taking pictures of my own cats, but they can never sit still.”
Sometimes everything just didn’t go as planned so he had to start over to edit, but it shows how he succeeded with the project is to be patience: “I can finish some in an hour, but there are times when posing the cat is difficult, and I have to start all over. On average, each picture takes me around 4 hours to compose.”
When being asked about his feeling after those pictures went viral, he didn’t realize he became that popular, he also revealed a bit about his ‘isolated lifestyle’: “When I have some free time, I go for walks in the park with my dog or I read books. On the weekends, I explore the city and the countryside in search of new shots for my pictures.” Thus, he added: “I rarely see any people, except for my girlfriend and my parents.”
And lastly, listen up aspiring artists! Andrey exposed that he made his awesome pictures by using Photoshop and applying some filters on VSCO. With the modern technology, we are so familiar with these 2 applications which are already on our phone!
